Supplier GiG Adds Fifth Alberta Deal While Growing Its UK Book

It’s not a UK brand, but the technology behind it will look familiar to anyone who has followed how British casino sites get built. Gaming Innovation Group, the Malta-headquartered platform supplier whose kit already runs several UK-facing betting and casino brands, has just signed its fifth Alberta operator, and the deal doubles as a reminder of how much of the UK’s online casino furniture is quietly assembled by the same handful of tech firms.
What’s been released
GiG Software has won a contract to power the online betting and gaming offering of River Cree Resort & Casino in Alberta, Canada.
The Enoch Cree Nation’s River Cree brand is entering the online gambling market for the first time and will utilize GiG’s full end-to-end technology ecosystem, including its iGaming platform, online sportsbook and casino games, and data analytics and logic engine tools.
The deal makes the Enoch Cree Nation-owned venue GiG’s fifth partner in the Canadian province.
River Cree has been running a land-based resort and casino on the western edge of Edmonton for two decades, and this is its first move into real-money online play.
The operator registered with Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis earlier in 2026 to launch an iGaming site, although online play has not yet started.
Alberta’s regulated online gambling market opened in July.
What’s changed
Under the agreement, GiG will provide the technology and platform for River Cree’s online expansion, covering an online casino, online sports betting, a native mobile app, custom front-end and omnichannel solutions, and advanced data analytics and managed services.
The Data and Logic layer gives River Cree a unified intelligence system, where Data delivers real-time analytics and predictive insight into player behaviour, while Logic acts as an automated rules engine that streamlines operations and customises acquisition and retention flows without custom code.
The idea is to stitch the physical casino floor to the online product rather than treat them as separate businesses.
GiG’s technology is designed to combine River Cree’s established customer relationships with infrastructure built to connect physical and digital gaming.
GiG chief executive Richard Carter framed it as a bridge between an established retail operator and a fresh digital presence, calling it a way to help River Cree carry its existing success into the online space.
Where it fits
For UK readers, the interesting part is less the Alberta launch itself and more who’s behind it. GiG’s CoreX platform has had a busy run in Britain recently:
it powered the official launch of Betzone in the UK using its CoreX iGaming platform, AI tools, rules engine LogicX and reporting tool DataX, marking the second UK brand migrated onto the platform in a single quarter.
The supplier has also been behind the ITV Win platform tie-up and, further back,
a platform and managed services partnership with UK retail operator Aspers Group aimed at transforming a land-based casino business into an online one
– almost exactly the template now being applied to River Cree.
It’s a useful snapshot of how the supplier side of this industry works: the same back-end technology, data tools and front-end building blocks turn up again and again across very different markets and brand names. UK players who spot the slick dashboards, loyalty flows or sportsbook layouts on a familiar domestic brand may well be looking at the same underlying engineering that’s just gone live on the other side of the Atlantic for a casino that, until now, only existed on a casino floor outside Edmonton.
