Evolution Launches Spinning Whale, a New US-First Slot Studio
Evolution has added yet another name to its growing stable of slot brands, unveiling Spinning Whale as a studio built specifically around North American tastes. You won’t find it in UK lobbies on day one, but given how Evolution’s content typically travels, it’s worth knowing what’s coming down the pipe.
What’s been released
Evolution is expanding its online slot content with the launch of Spinning Whale, a new online slot brand with a focus on North America.
It joins Evolution’s growing portfolio of slot brands, alongside Nolimit City, NetEnt, Red Tiger, Big Time Gaming and Sneaky Slots.
The studio’s debut release is called 888 Dragon’s Fortune Hold’n’Win, and
it is an Asian-themed slot inspired by the style of classic land-based games and reimagined for online players in the US.
The new slot studio will focus on the North American market and release its first game in November.
More precisely, the debut title is scheduled for 18 November, giving operators a few weeks to prepare their lobbies ahead of the launch.
How it plays
888 Dragon’s Fortune Hold’n’Win leans on the familiar hold-and-spin template that’s become a staple of land-based cabinets, repackaged for an online audience. The game carries medium volatility, a 95 per cent RTP, and a maximum win potential of 4,189 times the stake, putting it firmly in the “steady but with upside” bracket rather than the extreme-volatility end of the market that some North American-facing titles chase.
Spinning Whale games will be distributed exclusively through Evolution’s One Stop Shop (OSS), giving operators access to the new brand alongside Evolution’s wider portfolio of online casino content through a single integration.
That’s the same backend plumbing that already carries Evolution’s live tables and existing slot brands into operator sites, so technically there’s no new integration hurdle for partners already plugged into the group.
Where it fits
On paper this is a US story:
North America is a key market for Evolution, and we see significant opportunity to continue growing our online slots business here, said Jacob Claesson, CEO Evolution North America.
Claesson pointed to the fact that players in the US can have different preferences when it comes to themes, volatility, mechanics and visual style, and said Spinning Whale will allow the group to increase the number of games it releases with the US player perspective in mind from the outset.
But the brand isn’t being built in a silo.
Spinning Whale has been created with the preferences of North American slot players in mind, while retaining broader international appeal.
Evolution’s own commercial team made that point explicitly:
Spinning Whale expands that range further and gives us another strong platform from which to continue growing our slots offering. While the US is the initial focus for Spinning Whale, we see strong potential for its games across our global network.
Given that Evolution’s slot brands typically migrate across its global operator network once they’ve bedded in, there’s a reasonable chance UK sites running Evolution’s One Stop Shop feed will see Spinning Whale titles land in 2027, alongside the fresh titles promised under the brand next year.
For now, Spinning Whale sits as Evolution’s sixth slot brand, following the same playbook used for Sneaky Slots: a distinct front-of-house identity sitting on the same back-end infrastructure and quality bar as the rest of the group’s output. Whether that translates into a genuinely different play experience or simply a new wrapper on familiar mechanics will become clearer once 888 Dragon’s Fortune Hold’n’Win goes live and further titles start rolling out through 2027.
