Big Time Gaming Puts Extra Chilli Back On The Boil

Big Time Gaming has reopened one of its most cherished Megaways stalls, sending players back to the bustling market of Extra Chilli with a sequel that piles four fresh bonus pots onto the original recipe. Extra Chilli More Chilli keeps the reactive reels and the famous extra reel underneath, but adds a layer of respins and modifiers designed to make every single spin feel like it might boil over.

What’s been released

Extra Chilli More Chilli is
an enhanced version of Big Time Gaming’s cult classic Extra Chilli
, first released in 2018 and one of the studio’s most enduring Megaways titles. Big Time Gaming gave the sequel a soft launch before going wide, with the game
launching exclusively with Casino Barcelona in Spain on 16 September, ahead of a wider release scheduled for a week later
, putting the global rollout on 23 September.

The mechanical engine remains familiar: it
runs on the supplier’s Megaways engine, offering up to 117,649 ways to win
. Visually, players will recognise the setting straight away, as the game
takes players to a crowded Mexican market where players can buy fresh produce
, with fireworks wilds and layered chilli symbols carrying the biggest payouts.

How it plays

The headline addition sits in the base game itself. Rather than waiting on scatters,
the new version adds “Chilli Bonus Respins” in the base game, where each spin can trigger one of four modifiers: Duplicate Wild, Increased Ways, Double Multiplier, and Chilli Wild
. Each modifier does something distinct: the Duplicate Wild scatters extra wilds across the reels, the Increased Ways option forces extra symbols onto every reel to widen the win paths, the Double Multiplier starts a payout multiplier that climbs with each cascade, and the Chilli Wild turns green chilli symbols into wilds.

Free spins work on a similar escalating principle.
The title also includes a Free Spins feature triggered by three “HOT” Scatters, awarding 10 Free Spins and at least one guaranteed Chilli Bonus, with additional scatters adding more Chilli Bonuses up to four at once, and further scatters adding extra free spins.
Big Time Gaming has also confirmed that
an unlimited win multiplier increases with every reaction during the round, and scatters can also land on the Extra Reel to award additional free spins
.

Before the free spins even begin, players face a genuine choice. A
Free Spins Gamble Wheel lets players risk current winnings to add more Chilli Bonuses, with a COLLECT option to bank results
. For those who prefer to skip the build-up,
Big Time Gaming is also offering two paid feature options: Bonus Buy for 10 free spins at 100 times the original stake, and Power Play, which increases the Chilli Bonus Respin frequency for five times the stake
. The game carries a maximum win of 30,000 times the stake and sits at the very high volatility end of Big Time Gaming’s catalogue.

Where it fits

Extra Chilli helped cement Megaways as one of the defining slot mechanics of the last decade, and reviving it puts Big Time Gaming in the same territory as other studios currently mining their back catalogues for sequels rather than entirely new IP. UK players who enjoyed the original’s Mexican market setting and reactive reels will find the layout instantly familiar, while the four-pot respin system slots the game into the wider trend of multi-feature base games that has spread across the market this year. Big Time Gaming CEO
Nik Robinson said returning to Extra Chilli was never going to be a case of simply adding a feature and calling it a sequel, adding that the four Chilli Bonuses give players variety they can feel from spin to spin and that it’s a hotter, bolder version of a game people already love.
For UK operators carrying Big Time Gaming content, it arrives as a low-risk way to refresh a proven title rather than gamble entirely on a fresh theme.
