BetMGM’s Product Push: Borgata Refresh, Jackpots, GoT Slots

BetMGM’s latest quarterly update reads less like a spreadsheet and more like a product roadmap. Behind the revenue and EBITDA figures sits a run of genuinely interesting content news: a rebuilt Borgata platform that’s pulling in noticeably more daily players, a progressive jackpot side bet spreading across US markets, and what the operator is calling its best-performing slot franchise launch yet.

What’s been released

BetMGM Q3 results show net revenue up 7% to $710m and adjusted EBITDA more than doubling to $86m as average monthly actives fell 3%.
The standout detail for anyone watching the product side of the business is the Borgata relaunch.
Borgata Online averaged 28% more daily active players in the third quarter than in February, before its brand refresh, with the July relaunch updating the casino’s account tools, rewards features and game navigation.

Alongside the Borgata work,
a refresh of the Borgata brand was followed by average daily actives 28% above prior levels, while BetMGM also introduced a progressive SideBet jackpot in Michigan and West Virginia, and live-streamed slots in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
On the content front,
the Game of Thrones titles were its most successful game franchise launch to date, and the refreshed Borgata brand has lifted average daily actives 28% above pre-refresh levels.

What’s changed

The Borgata overhaul isn’t just cosmetic.
The redesigned account hub groups available bonuses, playable funds and withdrawable balances in one place, and players can also launch their favourite titles and return to games they recently played directly from the casino’s home screen.

At the time of the relaunch, BetMGM said Borgata’s catalogue included 4,000 games, with 250 exclusive titles, and the redesign brought Borgata’s features into line with its main online casino platform.

The jackpot mechanic getting the most attention is the SideBet feature now live in Michigan.
The Michigan SideBet launch brought the feature to more than 200 games at BetMGM Casino, with most participating titles slots, though the launch selection also included arcade-style games.

Opting in adds a fixed 10-cent charge to each qualifying wager, so a player who keeps the feature enabled for 100 qualifying rounds would spend an additional $10 on jackpot entries on top of the wagers placed on the games.

BetMGM Jackpots offers four progressively larger prizes, with a Mini starting at $100 and a Minor at $6,000, while the Major begins at $30,000 and the Mega has a $500,000 starting value.
Crucially,
joining the jackpot feature does not change the outcome of the main casino game.

CEO Adam Greenblatt framed the quarter around product rather than headcount, saying the platform now offers
improved speed, stability and responsiveness ahead of football season
as the operator prioritises its online casino business.

Where it fits

BetMGM operates solely in North America, but the story has a UK thread worth pulling. The venture is jointly owned by Entain plc and MGM Resorts, and Entain is the group behind Ladbrokes and Coral on British high streets and apps. When a sister operation under the same corporate umbrella reports that a full account-and-navigation rebuild lifted daily engagement by more than a quarter, and that a modest-stake progressive jackpot mechanic is being rolled out across its portfolio, it’s a reasonable signal of where group-level product thinking is heading.

It also sits neatly alongside the wider trend UK players have already been seeing closer to home – operators leaning on account-hub redesigns and loyalty-linked navigation to keep players engaged, much as this site noted with Rank’s digital growth figures at Grosvenor and Mecca. Side-bet jackpots and franchise-branded slots are mechanics UK studios and operators have experimented with before, and BetMGM’s results suggest there’s still plenty of appetite for both when the execution is right.
