BETBY Blurs the Line Between Slots and Live Sport

If you have ever wished a live match played out a bit more like a slot session, BETBY has built something for you. The Tier 1 sportsbook supplier has launched SlotBets, a product that turns a live basketball fixture into a run of 15-second rounds complete with reels, combinations and multipliers, none of it decided by a random number generator.

What’s been released

BETBY unveiled the product on 8 September, describing it as the first entry in a completely new content bracket it calls
SlotBet Games, a new category positioned between sportsbook and casino, with BETBY SlotBets as its first product
. The supplier has coined the term “slotbetting” for the format, and head of innovation and R&D Kirill Nekrasov framed the ambition as building something with staying power, saying
SlotBets Games can develop its own recognisable mechanics, terminology and player expectations, in the same way that categories such as Crash Games did before
.

Basketball is the launch sport, chosen for its tempo. Its first real-world application, SlotBasketball, is built so that
each 15-second round is divided into three five-second windows, corresponding to three reels, with each reel recording the highest-value event that occurs during its window, including outcomes such as a three-pointer, two-pointer, missed shot, foul or even a period in which no action takes place
. Beyond live sport, BETBY is also
developing SlotBets for 24/7 esports content, with titles including eSlotSoccer, eSlotCricket, eSlotHockey and eSlotPingPong expected to broaden the offering
.

How it plays

Once a round’s three windows have played out, the reels are read together as a single result.
Once the 15 seconds are complete, the three reels form a combination, with matching outcomes producing payouts according to the game’s paytable, while multipliers and additional mechanics further enhance the experience
. Crucially, the outcome is anchored to what actually happens on court rather than a shuffled deck of symbols:
the company said the product replaces the random-number-generator mechanics of casino games with real-world events
.

Quiet spells in the match are not wasted either.
SlotBasketball also works stoppages into the experience through a Pause Bonus, which allows eligible stoppage time to contribute towards an additional payout multiplier
. According to BETBY’s own product page, the numbers involved can get large fast, with
multipliers ranging from X20 to X1000 inside 15 seconds
. The supplier also says the format is flexible enough for operators to commission bespoke versions, noting it
can develop any game on a client’s request, creating any league, team or participant from available competitions
.

Where it fits

The appeal, as BETBY tells it, is less about a single new game and more about traffic flow between two audiences that rarely mix.
BETBY frames SlotBets as a way to move players between its online casino and sportsbook audiences, with casino-first players able to follow sport through familiar reel mechanics without needing to understand betting markets, while existing bettors get a faster way to engage with a match
. Nekrasov put the reasoning behind that plainly, asking
why should a casino player need sportsbook expertise to enjoy betting on sport
.

For UK players used to seeing slot mechanics confined to dedicated reel games, SlotBets sits closer to the crash-game trend of borrowing casino visuals for fast, round-based wagering, though here the “reels” are populated by genuine match events rather than a generator. The format has yet to have its public unveiling:
BETBY and the wider SlotBets Games category will be shown publicly for the first time at SBC Summit Lisbon, running from September 28 to 30, 2026, where the supplier will demonstrate the product on its stand
. Whether and when it lands with UK-facing operators has not yet been detailed, but with over 500 clients reportedly already signed up, it is one to watch as the format moves from Malta’s back office onto the show floor.
