Pragmatic Play quits bingo as UK sites migrate away

Two of the studios whose names sit on almost every UK casino lobby are heading in opposite directions this year. Pragmatic Play has spent the summer winding down its sportsbook, virtual sports and bingo products to put its full weight behind slots and live casino, while Play’n GO has kept adding new regulated markets to its supplier licence list. The clearest sign of the shift for UK players has already landed: three bingo sites have swapped Pragmatic’s network for a rival’s, and one has closed altogether.

What’s been released

The change traces back to a strategic review Pragmatic Play confirmed in June. A spokesperson for the Gibraltar company confirmed to SBC News that it had conducted a strategic review of its business, leading to the decision to call it quits on its sports betting activity. A spokesperson stated the decision has been made to focus on core market-leading verticals, in particular slots, live casino, crash and RNG, adding that as a result Pragmatic Play will no longer offer bingo and sportsbook products, including virtual sports.

The exit isn’t instant. Sources told NEXT.io that while both products had established a presence with partners, the move came down to an internal decision to prioritise areas of the business where it is market leading, rather than scaling non-core sports and bingo verticals. Pragmatic launched into sports betting in 2022 and had run bingo for even longer, but neither became central to the business the way slots and live dealer tables have.

Meanwhile Play’n GO has been moving the other way. The list of Play’n Go casinos grew again in May, when the studio picked up a supplier licence from Alberta’s regulator ahead of the province’s iGaming market opening on 13 July 2026. That’s a Canadian licence rather than a UK one, but it shows the studio still treating new regulated territory as growth, in contrast to Pragmatic’s narrowing.

What’s changed

For UK bingo players the practical effect is already visible. The change affects a sizeable collection of UK bingo sites that currently use Pragmatic Play’s shared bingo network, and operators are having to move their bingo product elsewhere as the network is wound down, with the first migrations already having happened. The first significant UK migration happened on 28 July 2026, when three bingo brands previously running Pragmatic Play bingo moved to the ProgressPlay platform, which uses Playtech as its exclusive bingo provider, meaning all three brands now offer Playtech bingo rooms instead. One connected site didn’t make the switch: BOGOF Bingo, which was part of the same previous bingo setup, did not migrate and closed on 28 July 2026.

Swapping bingo supplier is a bigger deal for players than a slot provider change would be, because changing bingo supplier is considerably more noticeable than changing a slot provider, since the underlying bingo network determines the rooms available, ticket prices, game schedules, player pools, jackpots and many of the features inside the bingo client. Other bingo operators still running Pragmatic’s network are yet to confirm where they’ll land.

Where it fits

On the slots and live casino side, nothing changes for players beyond a supplier sharpening its focus. The closure leaves the company focused entirely on its casino business, where it supplies content to operators including bet365, Betsson, Entain, Flutter Entertainment and William Hill, with live casino having become one of its largest product categories. That vertical has been building for a while: in September 2025 Pragmatic Play launched Money Time, a live game show built around a 54-segment wheel offering multipliers of up to 10x and four bonus rounds, including Cash Roll, Coin Rush and Bank Heist features, with bonus games able to award multipliers ranging from 5,000x to 40,000x.

Set against Play’n GO’s continued market expansion, the split strategies mean UK players should notice sharper slot and live-dealer content from Pragmatic over the coming months, while any operator still leaning on its bingo network has a migration decision to make before the wind-down completes.
